In 2008, Associate Professor Petr Marek got appointed Professor of Accounting and Financial Management. He guarantees the mandatory course of Corporate Finance and other subjects. In publishing activities, he focuses mainly on financial analysis, dividend policy and the costs of representation. As an academic supervisor, Professor Marek has led (as of the end of 2018) to successful defence 7 dissertations, 218 diploma (master’s degree) and 135 bachelor’s degree theses. As the lead researcher, he successfully defended a 7-year research plan, two Czech Science Foundation’s (GAČR) projects and four projects of the Internal Grant Agency (IGA) of the University of Economics, Prague, while participating in other projects as a member of the research team. From 2003 to 2006, he served as the Vice-Dean for Science and Doctoral Studies and the Chairman of the Subject-area Board for Doctoral Studies at the Faculty. Since 2006, he has been the Chairman of the Academic Senate of the Faculty. Since 2009, he has been a member of the Academic Senate of the University of Economics, Prague, where he also served as the Deputy Chairman during the term 20152018. In 2006, Professor Marek founded of the Czech Financial and Accounting Magazine (ČFÚČand the European Financial and Accounting Journal (EFAJ), working there for 10 and 8 years, respectively, as the Chief Editor and Chairman of their respective editorial boards.
